Wir trauern um Jean Brixhe, der am 20.06.2019 viel zu früh im Alter von nur 68 Jahren verstorben ist.
Jean Brixhe, der bereits seit 1971 in seiner belgischen Zuchtstätte DES MONTS VALDAI erfolgreich Barsois züchtete, war seit 1973 Mitglied im DWZRV. Noch in 2016 haben wir ihm im feierlichen Rahmen der Verbandssieger-Ausstellung die Verdienstnadel in Gold verleihen dürfen.
Neben seiner langjährigen Tätigkeit als FCI-Gruppenrichter nicht nur für Windhunde war er seit 1981 in der Verwaltung der Société Royale Saint-Hubert, dem leitenden Organ für das belgische Hundewesen, tätig. Anfänglich als Sekretär und Schatzmeister, war er zuletzt Präsident des Club Royal Belge du Lévrier (CRBL).
Im Rahmen von Arbeiten der Universitäten Liège (B) und Leyde (NL) hat er zahlreiche Dokumentationen über Windhunde im Alten Ägypten veröffentlicht, unter anderem in der Bibliotheca Orientalis, der Zeitschrift des NINO (Nederlands Instituut voor het Nabije Oosten, Leyde).
Dem DWZRV war er darüber hinaus in besonderem Maße als Mitbegründer und Generalsekretär im Vorstand der „F.C.I.-Euro Sighthound“ verbunden, die erstmals in 2005 in Donaueschingen ausgetragen worden ist. Wir hätten uns sehr gefreut, Jean im nächsten Jahr nach 15 Jahren erneut in Donaueschingen als Ehrengast begrüßen zu dürfen.
Wir werden ihn und seine Liebe zu den Windhunden nicht vergessen. Unsere Gedanken sind aber in dieser Zeit bei der Familie und den Hinterbliebenen. Unsere aufrichtige Anteilnahme geht besonders an Lisette Brixhe-Bonboire.

We mourn the loss of Jean Brixhe, who passed away too early on 20.06.2019 at the age of only 68 years.
Jean Brixhe, who had successfully bred Borzois in his Belgian kennel DES MONTS VALDAI since 1971, had been a member of the DWZRV since 1973. Still in 2016, we were allowed to award him the gold medal in the ceremonial frame of the Verbandssieger-Ausstellung.
In addition to his many years as FCI-Gruppenrichter not only for sighthounds he was since 1981 in the administration of the Société Royale Saint-Hubert, the executive body for the Belgian dog. Initially secretary and treasurer, he was most recently President of the Club Royal Belge du Lévrier (CRBL).
He has published numerous documentaries on sighthounds in ancient Egypt, including the Bibliotheca Orientalis, the NINO magazine (Nederlands Instituut voor het Nabije Oosten, Leyde), as part of work by Liège (B) and Leyde (NL) universities.
In addition, he was particularly associated with the DWZRV as co-founder and secretary-general of the board of the „F.C.I.-Euro Sighthound“, which was held for the first time in 2005 in Donaueschingen. We would have been delighted to welcome Jean again as guest of honor in Donaueschingen next year after 15 years.
We will not forget him and his love for the sighthounds. Our thoughts are at this time with the family and the bereaved. Our sincere condolences go especially to Lisette Brixhe-Bonboire.
